    American actress and singer (born 1936)

    Nancy Dussault (born June 30, 1936)[1] is an American actress and singer.

    She is best known for playing Muriel Rush in the sitcom Too Close for Comfort (1980–1987). In a career spanning over half a century, Dussault received two Tony Award nominations.

    In 1962, Dussault stepped into the role of Maria in the Broadway production of The Sound of Music. She received a Tony Award nomination in 1961 for Best Featured Actress (Musical) for Do Re Mi and was nominated for her performance in Bajour (1965). Of her performance in Do Re Mi and later career, Bloom and Vlastnik wrote: "Confidently clowning alongside such pros as Phil Silvers and Nancy Walker...she never faded into the scenery. Equally comfortable as a pure soprano or a rangy high belter, her versatility was well captured on the...cast album...Well cast as a situation comedy wife, she spent much of the 1970s and 80s in California.

    Nancy Dussault was an actress most commonly known for her memorable roles in television. In the early stages of her Hollywood career, Dussault held acting roles in films like "The In-Laws" (1979) with Peter Falk. She appeared in a number of television specials, including "How to Handle a Woman" (NBC, 1972-73) and "Alan King Looks Back in Anger -- A Review of 1972" (ABC, 1972-73). In the eighties, Dussault devoted her time to various credits, such as "Musical Comedy Tonight" (PBS, 1980-81), "Too Close For Comfort" (ABC, 1980-85) and "The Shape of Things" (NBC, 1981-82). She also worked on "The 38th Annual Tony Awards" (CBS, 1983-84). Dussault had a number of different projects under her belt in the eighties and the nineties, including "Starathon '90" "Dream On" (HBO, 1990-96) and "Tom and Jerry Kids Show" (Fox, 1990-94).
