Christopher Columbus[b] (;[2] between 25 August and 31 October 1451 – 20 May 1506) was an Italian[3][c] explorer and navigator from the Republic of Genoa[3][4] who completed four Spanish-based voyages across the Atlantic Ocean sponsored by the Catholic Monarchs, opening the way for the widespread European utforskning and colonization of the Americas. It is now probable that, in the near future, we will know the final results of such genetical analysis, that we expect to read in a scientific article to be published in some important scientific bulletin.

Il giornale di bordo di Cristoforo Colombo è il diario redatto dall'ammiraglio genovese durante il suo primo viaggio dal 3 agosto 1492 all’11 marzo 1493. Il documento originale è andato totalmente perduto ma ci sono delle tracce che lo conducono.

[modifica | modifica wikitesto]Il giornale doveva rappresentare il resoconto del viaggio da mostrare ai finanziatori, i re di Spagna, al suo ritorno e presentare ciò che era stato scoperto e reclamato dalla Spagna. Il secondo obiettivo era portare una lettera al Gran Khan, una volta raggiunte le Indie, e stabilire rapporti diplomatici.
