Udit Narayan Jha known as Uditji, is a Nepalese playback singer whose songs have been featured mainly in Nepali and Hindi Narayan’s soulful and emotive voice continues to spellbind people for 3 decades. With an ability to sing in 32 different languages, his songs will stay in the hearts of all music lovers for generations to come.
Early Years
Udit Narayan began his singing career with Nepali, Maithili and Bhojpuri, and often sang for Radio Nepal as a staff artist. He made his playback singing debut in , singing a duet with Sushma Shrestha for the Nepali film Sindoor. After this, he moved to Mumbai on a musical scholarship to Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan. In , music composer Rajesh Roshan asked him to sing for the Hindi movie Unees Bees giving Udit a chance to sing with the renowned Mohammed Rafi. Soon, Udit sang for a number of Bollywood movies including films like Sannata (), Bade Dill Wale () and Tan Badhan

Udit Narayan Jha is a Nepalese playback singer whose songs have been featured mainly in Nepali and Bollywood movies. Besides Nepali and Hindi, he has sung in many other languages including Kannada, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Garhwali, Sindhi, Punjabi, Odia, Assamese, Manipuri, Maithili and Bengali. He has won three National Film Awards and five Filmfare Awards. In , Narayan was awarded the Prabal Gorkha Dakshin Bahu by the late King of Nepal Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev. In , Narayan was awarded the Padma Shri and in he was awarded with the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India.
Udit Narayan Jha was born in Bhardah, Saptari in Nepal. His parents were Hare Krishna Jha from Saptari, Nepal and Bhuwaneshwari Devi from Bihar, India.
Narayan studied at P.B. School, Rajbiraj, Nepal where he finished his S.L.C. (class 10) and later obtained his intermediate degree from Ratna Rajya Laxmi Campus, Kathmandu.
