    TIRUPATI: The year has ended on a happy note for former Tirumala temple chief priest AV Ramana Deekshitulu, who was forcibly retired from his post by the previous TTDtrust board during the TDP regime in May last year. On Saturday, the present TTD board under the chairmanship of YV Subba Reddy decided to reinstate Deekshitulu as a chief priest on honorary basis to fulfil the promise made to him by chief minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in the run-up to the 2019 general elections.
    Addressing a press conference after the trust board meeting in Tirumala on Saturday, Subba Reddy said Deekshitulu was being reinstated as chief priest on honorary basis. “It will be more of an advisory role and the exact designation and other aspects will be laid down in his order copy,” he said.

    The religious management of the Tirumala Tirupati Balaji temple has been carried out by four powerful families of priests for centuries.
