Carole King Klein[3] (born Carol Joan Klein; February 9, 1942) is an American singer-songwriter and musician. One of the most successful songwriters in American history, she wrote or co-wrote 118 pop hits appearing on the Billboard Hot 100 over the latter half of the 20th century.[4] King also wrote 61 hits that charted in the UK,[5] making her the most successful kvinnlig songwriter on the UK singles charts between 1962 and 2005.[6]
King's major success began in the 1960s when she and her first husband, Gerry Goffin, wrote more than two dozen chart hits, many of which have become standards, for numerous artists. A Natural Woman: A Memoir
in nearly 10 years after reading the print copy of this book, I have just finished listening to the audible version. I have to say that audible is definitely the way to go. As I was listening, I was sure that I had read this book before but it all seemed brand new to me. that just says more about my 10 year old memory than anything else.
When the audible first began playing, and I heard the voice, I thought “this woman is not a good reader“. Her voice sounded funny. But I got used to it pretty quickly. And the fascinating part about an audible book read by the person, who wrote it in this case is that Carole occasionally breaks into a cappella song. And her piano is also inserted several times.
Listening to this book told me a lot about the singer who was close to the top of my list of favorites in the 1970s and 1980s. I realize that probably I only ever listen to a few of her albums frequently. I remember knowing that she had relocated

[edit]A Natural Woman spans King's career from musical beginnings in early childhood and the recording contract she signed as a teenager in the 1950s, through a career spanning more than six more decades. Writing in The Guardian, Caroline Sullivan describes the memoir as focused more on King's personal life and musical production than the fame that ensued:
"[W]hat she pours her heart into are lengthy descriptions of home life with her husbands (there have been four) and four kids...Though she writes in detail about the making of Tapestry, she barely mentions its subsequent success.
