    Former legislator & retired Principal Elmore Stoutt racks up $65G

    ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Retired school principal Mr Elmore Stoutt is one of two persons hired by the Ministry of Education and Culture to perform as employees outside the ambit of the Public Service Commission. Mr Stoutt also receives a salary of more than $65, annually.

    This was revealed in the House of Assembly at the February 12, sitting following a question by Third District Representative Honourable Julian Fraser RA.

    Minister for Education and Culture Honourable Myron V. Walwyn told the sixth sitting of the second session of the second House of Assembly that two persons are employed under consultancy contracts to perform as employees outside the ambit of the Public Service Commission. These persons, Hon. Walwyn said, are Mr Elmore Stoutt as Principal for the BVI Technical Vocational Institute at a salary of sixty-five thousand, five hundred and two dollars ($65,).     The Education Ministry has issued a response to a second wave of molestation allegations, this time involving another teacher at the Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS).

    These new claims come just weeks after similar accusations rocked the institution, sparking concern among parents and the wider community. In a statement released yesterday, October 10, the ministry expressed its commitment to ensuring the safety of students and staff.

    “We want to emphasise our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and integrity in our schools,” the ministry said.

    It also confirmed that the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) and the Social Development Department are investigating the matter.
