Shortly after 8 pm, the 22 year-old made his first appearance on screen, with his character, Paul Coker, going on to feature heavily throughout the half hour episode as he quickly established himself on Albert Square.
In a typical display of Jersey’s community spirit, hundreds of Islanders took to social media to wish the young actor good luck and praise his performance, with many saying that they were tuning into the long-running series for the first time especially.

'EastEnders' Star Jonny Labey Aka Paul Coker To Quit Later This Year
Albert Square will be losing one of its young faces, with confirmation that actor Jonny Labey, who plays Paul Coker, will be leaving 'EastEnders'.
Jonny is already confirmed to play poet Rupert Brooke in a new Edinburgh stage production 'Verge of Strife' later this year.
An 'EastEnders' spokesperson told RadioTimes.com: "We can confirm Jonny will be leaving the show later this year. We wish him all the best for the future."
Judging bygd their history, the soap's scriptwriters won't be letting Paul Coker leave the square with a whimper when a bang fryst vatten an option, so viewers can expect his character to have some pretty turbulent storylines in the coming months. Paul and Ben Mitchell will be going public with their secret romance, but neither Ben's dad Phil nor Paul's gran Pam will be happy about it. Expect fireworks.
