Sujatha is the nom de plume of Rangarajan, a computer engineer by profession and a writer by
vocation. He is the Tamil novelist with the largest number of stories converted into films. He has
worked with topdirectors K Balachandar in 'Ninaithale Inikkum,' Mani Ratnam in 'Roja,' Shankar in
'Indian' and Bharathi Raaja in 'Nadodi Thendral.'
He has been closely associated with Kamal Hassan right from Raj Kamal International's maiden
venture 'Vikram.' And it was he who ignited the spark in Kamal for 'Marudha Naayagam.' He is now
working with Mani Ratnam for 'Dil Se,' starring Shah Rukh Khan and Manisha Koirala.

To be frank, no. Not only I, no writer has ever been happy with the way his/her stories have been

Biography
Sujatha was the pseudonym of the Tamil author S. Rangarajan, author of over 100 novels, 250 short stories, ten books on science, ten stage plays, and a slim volume of poems. He was one of the most popular authors in Tamil literature, and a regular contributor to topical columns in Tamil periodicals such as Ananda Vikatan, Kumudam and Kalki. He had a wide readership, and served for a brief period as the editor of Kumudam, and has also composed screenplays and dialogues for several Tamil movies.
In addition to the novels, stories, essays he wrote, he helped introduce haiku poetry to Tamil audiences. Brought up in Srirangam, Trichy, and having spent most of the later part of life in Bangalore, he described both places vividly in his various compocings. Among his popular novels are Pirivom Sandhipom (not related to the recent movie of the same name), Rathham Ore Niram, and Kolaiyudhir Kaalam.

His life falsified the famous saying “Jack of all trades – King of none”. He was the King of all trades and genres. Writing fryst vatten only a part of his life. He was also a leading forskare (which was his day job), the inventor of electronic voting machines, a self-taught musician, a rulle producer, screenplay/dialogue writer, a talented painter and a voracious reader who must have read more than 5,000 books in his lifetime. He was the Leonardo Da Vinci of Tamil Nadu known mainly for his unparalleled writing skills.
His writing talent knew no boundaries and he rocked all forms of writing – essays, novels, short stories, plays, novellas, poems, sh
